Meet Our Fitness Team
Mike is a born and raised New Yorker and Central Park has been his “backyard” since before he could walk. A former high school and college athlete, being active has always been a way of life and Central Park has always been the go-to venue.
Since becoming a professional Fitness Trainer in 2007 using the park instead of a crowded stuffy gym was always Mike’s choice. The more time he spent in the park the more curious he became about its history. During research he found the details and information so fascinating that he decided to take it further and get certified as an official New York City sightseeing guide and combine his passions of fitness and NYC history and created Fit Tours NYC.
Meredith is a yoga instructor, actor, and overall movement enthusiast. She has been a proud member of the Fit Tours tribe for over two years, and loves getting to hang out with cool people from all over the world during her yoga walks and 5K tours in Central Park!! Her yoga journey began while she was getting her degree in Acting at Syracuse University, and what started as a calming hobby soon flourished into a passion and career. After receiving her 200 hr. teacher training with Shivakali Yoga and working with a variety of students through her first few years of teaching, she developed a strong curiosity for how each unique body moves and changes with lifestyle and time. This led her to complete the 108 hours of Anatomy Studies for Yoga Teachers course with Jason Ray Brown, as well as a Prenatal Yoga Teaching Training with NYC’s Prenatal Yoga Center. In addition to leading Central Park tours in the mornings, Meredith proudly runs Yoga With Meredith – a private yoga business that brings customized yoga lessons into people’s homes, apartments, and workspaces. Outside of teaching, Meredith loves hiking, learning how to keep plants alive in her apartment (she’s still working on it), continuing her studies of anatomy and bio-mechanics, and generally being outside whenever possible. A farm girl from Ground Rush Farm in Culpeper, Virginia, Elena is thrilled to bring her sense of play to the 5k Fun Runs and to Power Hour! Elena comes from an active family. She played soccer in high school, four years of Junior Olympic Volleyball, and four years of Varsity Volleyball, where she led her team as floor captain. Since moving to NYC in 2012, she’s worked as an independent personal trainer – fusing her book knowledge of exercise science, corrective exercise, strength training, plyometrics, agility, and dynamic movement with her physical experience as an athlete.
Elena is thrilled to be apart of the Fit Tours Team! She loves sharing the melting pot of stories and human moments encapsulated in Central Park, especially in the beautiful mornings when the light shines through!
Elena is supportive, encouraging, energetic, always up for a challenge, and loves to laugh.
Karyn’s passion to help others achieve their personal wellness goals started in 2010 when she graduated from CW Post with a BS in Nutrition. In early 2016, Karyn left the 9-5 corporate life to start her own wellness company, Happy Belly Strong.
Karyn is s a certified Health Coach and NASM Certified Personal trainer who believes that the key to good health starts with being happy. Movement is proven to increase happiness, and she knows there is no place better to move than the great outdoors. Karyn tries to spend as much time in nature as possible. When she is not leading the Power Hour or Core Tour classes in Central Park you can find her hiking Upstate, traveling to different cities, and helping NYC achieve happiness.
